In this video David Kitchen better known as Sam since his schooldays (No-one appears to now why.) outlines his time at Balby high School and his fondness for sport but not much else. His journey to playing professional is achieved in small steps; from the playing fields of Balby with former staff and ex pupils to local Doncaster weekend teams. The journey continues via Trials with professional clubs before signing for Leyton Orient whilst still working on the road construction jobs.
A spell at Doncaster Rovers is followed by settling in the north east to study at University of Sunderland for a sports degree to enable him to become a sports co-ordinator working in a South Shields pupil referral Unit for many years. Over 400 games are played for Gateshead United during this period.
A change of profession sees Sam work for the Red Cross Ambulance ServIce in Newcastle before becoming asked to work with clients experiencing learning disabilities and autism. His current role sees him travelling across England training personnel on health procedures.
