7 Reasons Far Cry New Dawn Is The Game Far Cry 5 Should Have Been | Far Cry New Dawn Gameplay

In our 13 minutes of new Far Cry New Dawn gameplay we look at new companions, expeditions, crafting, outpost battles, cop gameplay and light RPG mechanics and explain why Far Cry New Dawn is the game Far Cry 5 should have been. Most importantly: we unlocked Horatio the battle boar. He’s an absolute tank.

This isn’t a Far Cry New Dawn review - we only played three hours of the story, all taken from the first act of the game, but we were free to try out Far Cry New Dawn’s crafting (tied to building the town of Prosperity), and show off the new Outpost escalation system in our co-op gameplay. The outposts are one of the best changes in the game - you can salvage them for scrap, handing them back to even tougher enemies, making it harder to win them back over. We also use this Far Cry New Dawn preview to look at the new RPG systems - don’t worry, the game hasn’t become a Fallout-like slog - but it has added an hierarchy of weapons that gives the combat a bit more bite. Turns out a Far Cry new Dawn RPG isn’t a terrible idea - I wouldn’t be surprised if this resurfaces in later games in the series. It’s certainly a big improvement on Far Cry 5, which struggled to escalate the action properly.

Elsewhere in our Far Cry New Dawn impressions we also do an expedition, which takes you out of Hope County and to new levels dotted across America. We visit an old warship and try to steal its precious cargo. At one point a car drives into the sea. This Far Cry New Dawn gameplay is cleverly edited to cut out our mistakes, but we left that one in to see. Hopefully whoever writes out Far Cry New Dawn review has a more strategic mind. We also used some of this Far Cry New Dawn preview to build up our town and improve our crafting. There’s a lovely shotgun featured in our footage.

I should not that this is Far Cry New Dawn PS4 gameplay - we will look at Far Cry New Dawn PC as soon as we can. I can only imagine how damn sexy Horatio is going to look on PC. The Far Cry New Dawn release date is 15 February so not long to wait. What better way to celebrate the day after Valentine's day than enlisting your loved one to be part of a co-op team. Far Cry has always played better with a friend along for the ride and as you’ll see in our coop gameplay, that’s no different here.
