About the Video
The Finance Minister of India, Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman announced the Union Budget 2022 today. On February 1 each year, taxpayers and citizens of India anticipate the budget and what new changes and developments will it bring for them. This year’s budget focussed on digital infrastructure, sustainable living, Gati Shakti masterplan, and reforms for sectors like, education, hospitality, agriculture, defence, etc. Budget 2022 also announced the rollout of National Tele-Health Programme, which would focus on mental health issues of the youth.
The proposed capital expenditure for AY 2022-23 given by Budget 2022 is Rs 39.35 lakh crores, as against revenue receipts of Rs 22.84 lakh crores. RBI also plans to launch Central Bank Digital Currency in the next year. Income from virtual assets like cryptocurrency and NFT will be taxed at the rate of 30%. Apart from this, the tax incentives offered to start-ups have been extended for another year, and there will be an auction for 5G services rollout in the upcoming year. Nirmala Sitharaman also mentioned the launch of e-passports with digital chips, and a specially focussed on sustainable living. 5 Centres of Excellence will be set up which will deeply study urban planning and living, and Rs 250 crores will be extended to each of these institutes.
