Описание: Terry Gilkyson was a singer, composer and lyricist who sang folk and cowboy songs and different kinds of novelty pop back in the 1950s. In the western, “Slaughter Trail” (1951), he plays a cavalry trooper known as "Singalong" and sings several different songs on-camera as well as providing the running narrative ballad that punctuates the soundtrack at frequent points. “I Wish I Wuz” is a song he appears to improvise for the children on the cavalry post during a lull in the chasing of outlaws and fighting of Indians. It’s a cute and charming interlude and one wonders what kind of career Gilkyson might have had if Burl Ives hadn’t already cornered the market in recorded folksiness during the postwar era. (Gilkyson and Ives recorded many of the same songs.)
