Hi this is Surya , welcome to Health Bytes, Where we discuss a range of issues covering health, fitness and wellbeing.
This is a model that I haven't invented personally.
It was one that came into existence, back in the 1960s by a couple of guys called Joseph Joseph Luft and Harry Ingram.
the Johari window of personal insight, which essentially gives us today a basis for self-awareness and all personal growth.
Now this is a model that hasn't always been used in the Emotional intelligence world.
Historically, in the past, this model would be used by maybe business coaches when they were working with organizations to help scale them up.
So a business coach would ask perhaps a senior executive team.
Right?
OK, so let's have a look at your current arena.
What do you and other people know about your business and what your company's blind spots?
What do other people perhaps see?
You might not see about your business?
Because this essentially might be a risk that could stand to undermine you at some point in the future.
And how about your facade?
And what areas of your business do you make out to be delivering more than what you are?
And then let us think about this.
Think about what we're just not aware of at all.
What don't you know that you really would benefit from doing so?
What I'm doing really here is I'm putting a model around some of the ideas that I've already shared,
I want you to understand yourself.
So that model, we're not relating to business.
We are going to relate to you instead of.
That's OK.
So the question is, how is it that you start to develop a slightly better and healthier relationship with yourself?
So let us see if together we can improve this.
So let us just see if we can identify the opportunity that you have for growth in a few different areas because there's your arena.
All right, you're arena is just simply how you see yourself as your actual self, as decisions that you've made about yourself up until today is what you and other people know about you and perhaps some of your personality traits, perhaps how you feel sometimes maybe you are quite vocal about how you feel.
There's an aspect of you that you're fully aware of and that other people are also fully aware of is
in the public domain you out there in the public domain?
But then we have your facade.
The facade generally is stronger and those are more prominent in those who are more insecure.
So insecure people have a tendency of putting on a great facade.
Think about the school bully.
Think about that intimidating manager in the workplace.
Think about that complete phony on social media, on Instagram.
Who's grown up, you know, wanting to get another hundreds or thousands of 10000 likes?
Why to boost their confidence?
Why did people make themselves out to be something that they're not?
There's one question we could ask the second question why would anyone who's secure and themselves ever
need to be seen as someone or something other than who they are?
It's question number two, right?
So what does it really try to do?
The bully tries to put on a tough exterior.
So what is a tough exterior?
Is a defense mechanism right to cover up what insecurity and heart?
