How to Start a New One-on-One D&D Campaign

In this video, Beth covers the steps she and Jonathan went through to start their newest home duet D&D game:
1) reflect on past campaigns—what went well? What would you like to change?
2) get on the same page with your partner—what kind of campaign are the two of you looking to play? Are there any themes you'd like to explore or character types you'd like to try?
3) create a PC backstory (player) and outline/imagine a brief sketch of your opening sequence. What are some low-stakes encounters and situations that you can guide the PC through? From what you and the player know of the PC right now, what motivates them or what will they find motivating in the future?

With these pieces in place, you'll be ready to start!
