Thousands have gathered in Istanbul's Taksim Square following a call to defend democracy from Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Crowds waving Turkish flags on Saturday night chanted and waved flags following the abortive coup, which began on Friday night.
Erdogan is blaming the coup attempt on a US-based moderate cleric, Fethullah Gulen,but the cleric denies having anything to do with it.
