Jemez Hot Springs 1 of 3: McCauley Hot Springs

As a huge aficionado of natural hot springs, I try to hit as many of them as possible when traveling! This summer (2018) I happened to be in the area around Los Alamos/Jemez Springs, New Mexico…and checked out three of the best-known springs in the area. This is the first of three: McCauley Springs.

This was a beautiful spring with decently hot water, in a gorgeous forest along an easy 2-mile trail…but it’s pretty well known, and because the trail is so easy, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to soak the way I wanted to! One thing about me — I really don’t like soaking in a bikini! I MUCH prefer soaking without one — who wants to deal with a soggy, cold swimsuit on the hike out?!
