When we started our trip to Indonesia, Sumbawa was at the top of our surf bucket list. Everyone recommended this beautiful, untouched island.
We took the ferry from Lombok’s Kayangan Port, a three-hour journey to Pelabuhan Sumbawa. Our first stop was Scar Reef, but unfortunately, the waves were flat that day. With limited time, we decided to move on and headed straight to Yo-Yo’s Beach.
There, we found a beautiful homestay – Cinta Damei, run by an incredibly friendly family. Shintaro, the owner, welcomed us with delicious food and shared some great tips on the best surf spots in the area.
With only four days to explore, we focused on Yo-Yo’s Beach and Tropical Beach. At Tropical, we connected with some locals and had an unforgettable session with them.
Sumbawa is a breathtaking, uncrowded surf paradise, and one thing is certain – we’ll be back. Next time, with a little more time in our pockets!
