Old G Raid to USB 3.0 Upgrade - Save Money on New Hard Drives
In this video John shows you how to safely teardown and old model G-Raid 4 TB hard drive, remove the drives, and place them in a USB 3.0 docking station.
Older hard drives from just a few years ago, 4 TB Hard Drives came with USB 2.0, Firewire, and eSata ports. All 3 of these connections are being phased out, and if you upgrade to a new mac, such as the iMac 5k, you will not be able to use the drive. To remedy this, you can take out the hard drives, and put them into USB 3.0 docking stations so that they are hot swappable, and easy to use as additional discs, or to use as a redundant data backup system with each other.
