Combat sports and martial arts (CS&MA) offer positive developmental benefits, including positive impacts on general health (Bu et al., 2010; Vertonghen & Theeboom, 2010). However, they also present elevated safeguarding concerns due to sport-specific dynamics. As noted by Avelar Rosa & Nery (2021), these sports involve high tolerance for physical aggression, close contact, and hierarchical structures. Moreover, the often blurred boundary between accepted physicality and potential abuse, particularly in high-intensity practices where knockouts (KOs) are integrated into the competitive structure, further emphasises the need for clearly defined safeguarding protocols.
