Over 2,000 People Gather to Eat Traditional Cake for Luck, Fortune

Описание: Many Chinese people are celebrating the Spring Festival in a traditional way. Having a more old fashioned celebration does take time and effort, but it truly brings about more joy and happiness, and even incomes.

The Chiniuwa Village, located in northwest China's Shaanxi Province, is the place where people are following traditional Spring Festival rituals.

Since the 29th Day of the 12th lunar month of the year of Monkey, villagers here began to make steamed jujube cakes for greeting their married daughters and sons-in-law on the second day of Spring Festival, now also for visitors from other parts of China.

So more than 2,000 people are seen gathering at an open space, eating 66 this tasty snack and watching women weaving with traditional spinning wheels on Sunday. It's said eating jujube cake will bring you ever-growing luck and fortune in the coming year.

The heaviest seven cakes, weighing 25 kilograms for each, are only shared by the elderly and those villagers who make great contributions to their hometowns.

"It's delicious. I have not eaten such authentic rice cake in Beijing, " said a visitor from Beijing, the Chinese capital.
