Can YOU tell when you’ve finished a painting? I thought I could… but this time I was wrong!

My plan for this painting was a ‘terracotta’ vibe but just when I thought I’d finished it, I felt in my heart there was something ‘missing’.
I get asked often how do you know whether a painting is finished or not?
For me… when I think it’s ‘finished’ I leave it for a day or two then when I walk back in and see it again for the first time if I think ‘YES’… then it’s finished but if I have a moment of ‘Hmm’ then it’s not.
So as you can see on the video I added more warmth to it with colours such as ochre, cadium red and orange mixed together and raw sienna.

To give you a little background, I started painting originally for stress relief and therapy when I suddenly started having seizures 3 months before I was due to graduate from a Physiotherapy degree! My whole life turned upside down as you can imagine. But I believe ‘Everything happens for a reason’ and I couldn’t imagine my life without my art now.
In 2018 I was discovered by a Publisher, Artko Ltd, who supply framed prints of my work to shops throughout the UK. My bestselling pieces are my ‘Love Trees’.
My work is currently in various shops including John Lewis and Dunelm and links to these can be found below…
