The Mungo Boys - There's a Rainbow in the Sky

Описание: The Mungo Boys is a play which tells the story of a group of young secondary school pupils at St Mungo's Academy in Glasgow who started a band in the 60s. It is a 'rites of passage' tale of six brash young lads bound by class, music and dreams of making it big.

They were about to receive a recording contract when the band collapsed in acrimony and disappointment with the members going their own ways, choosing romance and university over fame and fortune.

Forty years later the lads took up where they left off, got together and made a CD of their original music. The problems of the past were forgotten as they got together in the CaVa studio to make music and bridge a gap of 40 years.

The play gives an insight into the experience of single sex Catholic education in the 60s with affection and humour. Presented at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2102, The Mungo Boys is a heartwarming story full of Glasgow humour and song. It represents the hopes and dreams of young people as well as the retrospection of some ageing baby boomers who won't give up in retirement.

The play was an original idea by Kevin Wyber. The original Edinburgh Script was by Michael Meighan and was adapted by Paul McBeth for performances in Glasgow, Biggar and Bishopbriggs.

The Edinburgh performance was directed by Isabella Baronella and featured six young Scottish actors and five young Scottish musicians. The original Mungo Boys put in an appearance at the end of the show.
This is a compilation of images mostly taken in the CaVa studios in Berkley Street, Glasgow. Unfortunately Mikk Rankin was not present on the day of the recording.

"There's a Rainbow in the Sky' was written by Kevin Wyber and Pat Whitley and was one of the songs recorded on the original CD. The images are copyright of Michael Meighan except for the one taken in Munro's, Great Western Road and the newspaper one near the end.
