Innovation event about products based on milk and colostrum

Описание: The "Innovation event about products based on milk and colostrum" was an event organized in August 31, 2015 by the FAME Laboratory (www.famelab.gr). The aim of this Innovation Event was to bring together dynamic industrial organisations from the region of Thessaly with Greek research organisations as well as experts in the field of food development and commercialization from abroad, fostering the translation of creative ideas into novel products.
The event received support through funding from the European Union’s 7th Framework Programme under grant agreement No 324476 (project GI-Neu).
GI-Neu is a research project being implemented by a consortium of public research institutions and industrial entities:
– Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (Greece)
– Università degli Studi della Tuscia (Italy)
– Imedica S.A. (Romania)
– Kalite Sistem Laboratuvarlari A.S. (Turkey)
The above-mentioned organizations have created a network of excellence that generates knowledge through research, organizes dissemination activities, promotes the training of their researchers in different laboratories, and implements innovation events. These activities of the GI-Neu project are focusing on the effects of colostrum-based nutraceuticals on health promotion and, especially, for the prevention and treatment of functional gastrointestinal disorders.
Neutraceuticals are products isolated or purified from foods that are generally sold in medicinal forms not usually associated with food (such as pills, powders, drinks, etc.). Moreover, neutraceuticals must have a demonstrated physiological benefit or provide protection against chronic disease.
Compared to other therapeutic agents, the use neutraceticals is growing in popularity due to their benefits for health and their limited side effects. A number of companies have recently become engaged in the development of neutraceutical products.
It is estimated that the global market of neutraceuticals will reach 220 billion euro by 2018.
