My Thoughts On The Song/Chart: One of my favorite songs off MCR's fourth album "Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys" in which this song was written about Gerald Way's wife, and doesn't follow the rock opera story of the album. (Similar to what Green Day did with their self contained song "Wake Me Up When September Ends" of "American Idiot") Despite being considered "happy and sappy" for MCR's usual dark output, i like it because of this reason, and the fact that i just consider it a nice, chill song.

Bass is pretty easy as its just very slow alt stumming with little mixup.

“Summertime” is a ‘new wave’ song, allegedly believed to be written about frontman Gerard Way’s wife, Lyn-z Way.

In an interview, Gerard said that it started as a riff Mikey had written, before evolving into a song they ‘couldn’t have the record without.’

[“Summertime”] is one of the lyrically personal songs on the album, whereas the rest of it is just me talking about my worldview. So it’s a really beautiful song and again—no rules. We can have a soft song.

Like the band’s previous album The Black Parade, Danger Days is a rock opera. The album's storyline takes place in post-apocalyptic California in 2019, where a group of rebellious outsiders known as Killjoys battle against an evil corporation. In 2013, frontman Gerard Way published a comic that continues the story described in the album.

"Summertime" doesn't follow the story of the album, and is considered to be a more personal song than most of the others on the album.
