If there’s one episode that captures the ethos of Local Joints, this is it. The lighting was dim, the shop owner tried to kick us out—until we turned the cameras on him. Then he talked all day and didn’t want us to leave.
Stacks of records, VHS tapes, cassettes, and film reels piled high in the back of this Hackney shop, entirely disorganized and entirely alive. It was raining, we lost a tripod, and yet this shoot lives on forever in my memory.
