MISSING: IMELDA KEENAN CASE - Family Appeal Update

Описание: Imelda Keenan, 22, of Mountmellick, County Laois, was living in Waterford City, Ireland. When she was reported missing on 3rd January 1994, she was living with her boyfriend and fiancé and they both lived in an apartment in Waterford town on William Street. Keenan attended the Central Technical Institute in Waterford where she undertook a computer course for a short period. At the time of her disappearance, she was registered as unemployed.

Imelda Keenan’s fiancé would later report that she told him she was going to the post office to pick up her unemployment benefit and some cat litter at a shop. Imelda was reported to have left their apartment at 1:30 p.m. A last confirmed sighting of Imelda Keenan at this time – when she was seen crossing the road by a local doctor's secretary who knew her well – has since been discounted as the wrong date or mistaken identity.

After subsequent visits to her apartment before and after Christmas by family to contact her without answer or access, and following her disappearance, case anomalies began to emerge. None of them had actually seen or heard from Imelda for two weeks prior to Christmas 1993.
Her glasses, everyday bag, personal belongings, passport, ID, were all found at the apartment during police investigations. This also included unopened Christmas presents for her, and presents she never delivered to family members.

The day she was reported to have left home to claim her unemployment benefit was actually a Monday bank holiday and her local post office would not have been open that day. She also kept a weekly personal diary which could not be located at her apartment.

Initially, Irish police treated her case as a possible suicide or deliberate missing person. A suspect would emerge in later years but investigators have yet to upgrade Imelda’s case to a murder investigation.
