He goes on to say, "Actually I signed this movie before the release of 'Inteha' and I didn't think much because the banner, they launched me. Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt, if they offer you a film you'd be stupid to say no. When I heard the story I really liked it and when I first heard the story I was supposed to do Emraan's role because I instantly identified with it. It's a very out there kind of guy, flashy, has his way with the women. Very much like me actually but I was advised against it because it has a few shades of grey in it and to do two back to back negative characters would have been fatal. So I did think about the other role and in retrospect now that I see the film and having been through the entire motion of living through this character and everything. I'm happy that I did the other role."

Murder is a 2004 Indian Hindi erotic romantic thriller film, directed by Anurag Basu and produced by Mukesh Bhatt. It is the first installment in the Murder film series. It stars Emraan Hashmi, Ashmit Patel and Mallika Sherawat in the lead roles and is set in Bangkok, Thailand.
