This very first episode of the 1958 Sea Hunt in which Lloyd Bridges portrays frogman Mike Nelson is being uploaded in support of a future project.

Nine years earlier, Lloyd Bridges had starred in Rocketship X-M (1950) which told a tale of an expedition to the moon that somehow wound up landing on Mars instead. There they find the remnants of a Martian civilization which had, in the distant past, destroyed itself with atomic warfare and devolved into to a state of barbarism.

It should also be noted that Lloyd Bridges had been blacklisted for a short period of time during the McCarthy Red Scare after he acknowledged to HUAC that he had previously been a member of the Actors' Laboratory Theatre. Serving as a cooperative witness and perhaps... naming names... he returned to acting soon after. The contributions he made in Sea Hunt would inspire many Americans to become certified divers... including myself... and we will return to this topic in January.
