Cheaper than diesel: This electric truck is a game changer!

Описание: The new Deepway Star is the latest 6x4 electric truck to arrive to New Zealand, with a price tag that will have trucking firms (and their accountants) sitting up in their seats.

This 492 kW (660 hp) semi tractor unit has a claimed range of 400 kilometres (248 miles) while fully loaded at 49 tonnes due to its 0.35 Cd coefficient of drag, which in its own right is impressive for a semi truck, but its the design, the ride and the interior layout that causes the most surprise - not to mention its AI features such as 'platoon mode' in which several trucks can autonomously follow a lead truck.

The truck also sports a flat-panel dashboard with touchscreen everything, giving the surreal impression you're driving an upmarket passenger car instead of a heavy haulage truck, but it's ultimately a machine that's designed to work, with its 600kWh (LFP) CATL battery and maximum torque output of 75,000 Nm.

And while we're yet to see its real world 'kiwi range' under load, its Tare weight of 11,900 kg (26,235 lb) and GCM of 49 tonnes shows it has more than enough hauling capacity to take on the likes of its diesel workmates, especially when you consider its price: with the LEHVF incentive, Etrucks in Auckland report that this truck is available now for $255,000 + GST, making it the cheapest electric semi you can buy.
