FYI: I am not a builder and I am doing up the house myself on a tiny budget and no one is going to lift the floor boards to inspect if this patching up complies or not with building regulations. Ha
Pretty much all of the ends of the floor joist touching in this room were rotten. Maybe I should have used thicker pieces of timber but this job is good enough for me considering that the floor was only holding because of the floor boards. To sister each joist I use a piece of timber the same side of the joist on either side overlapping generously, bound them with glue AND bolted them together.
