The wild carrot, also known as Queen Anne’s lace, Daucus carota, and poison hemlock, Conium maculatum, are two plants that belong to the carrot family that look similar but are totally opposite in one important way – Queen Anne’s Lace is non-toxic and edible and poison hemlock lives up to its name and is deadly poisonous. While these two plants do resemble each other there are some distinct differences between them. With a little practice and an eye for detail they can easily be told apart. This video shows differences between Queen Anne’s Lace and poison hemlock flowers, leaves, and stems along with some helpful hints to the characteristics of these plants.
