Description:

Stranger Than Heaven is a cinematic third person action adventure game that blends hand-to-hand combat, exploration, music creation and showbusiness management systems. Set across multiple eras of Japan between 1915 and 1965, the game follows a story shaped by crime, survival and entertainment.

Gameplay Features:

Story: Stranger Than Heaven follows Makoto Daito after he travels from the United States to Japan in 1915 in search of a new life. Alongside Yu Shinjo and the smuggler Orpheus, Makoto is drawn into Kokura’s criminal underworld as he struggles to survive, before later reuniting with Yu as the two become involved in the world of showbusiness.

The Cities: The game spans five districts inspired by real Japanese cities, each set in a different era between 1915 and 1965. Players will explore Kokura, Fukuoka in 1915, a smoke-scorched industrial town driven by factory workers; Kure, Hiroshima in 1929, a port city shaped by naval industry and yakuza influence; Minami, Osaka in 1943, western Japan’s largest entertainment district during wartime; Atami, Shizuoka in 1951, a bustling seaside tourist destination in postwar Japan; and Shinjuku, Tokyo in 1965, an iconic pleasure district defined by chaos and unpredictability.

The Greatest Showman: A major part of the experience centers around Makoto’s musical talent and his journey through showbusiness alongside Yu. Players can collect sounds from the environment, use them to create original musical compositions, discover performers throughout the city and organize live shows by selecting musicians and arranging performances.

Combat: The game introduces a completely new combat system built specifically for Stranger Than Heaven with independent control of Makoto’s left and right sides. Players can charge attacks, block and counter using different arms, tackle enemies, wield weapons ranging from knives and hammers to katanas, and unleash powerful finishing moves and context-sensitive attacks during combat.
