Описание: The Great Escape, released in 1986 by Ocean Software, is an isometric action-adventure game developed by Denton Designs for the Commodore 64. Loosely inspired by the 1963 film of the same name, the game immerses players in the role of an unnamed prisoner of war interned in a German POW camp during World War II. Set in a castle surrounded by cliffs and the cold North Sea, the player's objective is to escape undetected.

The game features a daily routine system, where the protagonist must adhere to camp schedules such as roll calls, exercising, and mealtimes. Failure to comply can raise suspicion among the guards. Players can choose from various escape methods, including tunneling, forging documents, or utilizing the underground drains, each requiring careful planning and resource management.

Graphically, The Great Escape employs an isometric 2.5D perspective, providing a pseudo-3D view of the camp. The environment is richly detailed, capturing the atmosphere of a WWII POW camp. The game was well-received, with the ZX Spectrum version ranking 23rd in Your Sinclair's official top 100, and winning awards for best arcade adventure and best advert of the year according to the readers of Crash.

While the Commodore 64 version was praised for its faithful adaptation, it did face some criticism regarding its graphics and sound. However, it remains a notable entry in the history of video games, celebrated for its innovative gameplay and the sense of tension it evokes.
