The Samtampa Disaster Sker Point - 75 YEARS LATER

Описание: The Samtampa was wrecked on Sker Point near Porthcawl on 23rd April 1947 along with the Mumbles lifeboat in its heroic attempt to rescue the crew. I visited the wreck site 75 years on from that fateful day.

This is a follow up to my previous video which tells the Samtampa and Mumbles Lifeboat story in more detail.
I revisited to mark the 75th anniversary and to show you exactly where to find the remembrance plaque and the ship’s engine, the only part of the ship which remains.

The 39 crew of the Samtampa and the 8 volunteer lifeboat crew from Mumbles were lost in the disaster.
