Pug Myelopathy is a recently recognized spinal condition believed to be unique in Pugs. Pug Myelopathy is considered the most frequent cause of rear limb incoordination (ataxia) and progress to paralysis of the rear limbs over a period of one to four years. Originally referred to as “Weak Rear”, this has become a widespread problem in Pugs.
In this video we see a before and after of Wellington, an eight year old pug, that presented to Southeast Veterinary Neurology for rear limb ataxia and his results after surgery performed by one or our board-certified neurologists Dr. Michael Wong.
