There was obviously plans to release further albums since this was labeled as 'Volume 1' but no further Tom O'Connor show albums were released on the Liverpool Sound label. An unusually hilarious atmosphere pervaded the recording studio in Liverpool when Liverpool Sound (Enterprises) Ltd, decided to capture the Tom O'Connor style of humour. The usual "silence" and "no smoking", and wait for the red light rulings, normally rigidly adhered to, went by the board, as tables and chairs, glasses and ash trays arrived just a few minutes before the audience. Suddenly another social club was born, with all its atmosphere. The magic of this unique master of 'clean' comedy took over and laughter resounded the hallowed precincts, normally dedicated to pop music.
Tom O'Connor, who started his comedy career while still a school teacher in Bootle, has the ability to touch the nerve centre of British humour, namely laughing at themselves. He presses home joke after joke with characters that are easily recognised by all.
Tom's appearances on the "Comedians", and a documentary, "There was this feller", have carried Tom's character sketches as far as Australian television. But it is on the home ground of Liverpool and the North West that he concentrates his energies on the audiences he loves best. The ability to fill clubs to capacity gives him the title of "Record Crowd Puller".
Joined by Liverpool's one and only Ernie Mack and his Saturated Seven (all of them tee- totalers) The Jacksons folk group with a Liverpool flavour, and last but not least a group of Tom's ex pupils calling themselves "The Melody Makers" makes hilarious and enjoyable listening.
Tom O'Connor passed away in July 2021 at the age of 81.
