The Porsche Cayenne diesel uses the CNRB Audi/VW 3.0L TDI engine. While fairly bulletproof (apart from oil leaks), a known weak point is the Bosch CP4 fuel pump. At any point, it could fail and send metal shavings all throughout the fuel system. This is bad. Everything fuel touches would need to be replaced -- which means thousands of dollars worth of parts and lots of labor.

To help prevent this, I installed the Whitbread Performance disaster prevention kit, consisting of a Metering Valve bypass block and a filter for the return feed to the fuel system. This isolates the fuel pump from the rest of the fuel system, so if it does fail, only the filter and the fuel pump would need to be replaced. Fairly cheap insurance, in my mind.
