Every Lightsaber Colour Explained


The lightsaber is one of the most legendary weapons in cinema history. They’ve been a part of pop culture ever since Luke Skywalker ignited his father’s blue laser sword on screen for the first time in 1977. Obi-Wan’s description of the lightsaber as an elegant weapon for a more civilized age instantly immortalized it. We’ve seen many unique versions over the past 50 years, from Darth Maul’s double-bladed saber to Mace Windu’s iconic purple. Lightsabers come in many different colours with between 14 and 20 variants across the current canon and Legends continuities. In the current canon, most lightsaber crystals are Khyber crystals from Ilum, but Legends throws up some fascinating alternatives.
