The present main church was completed in 2017, designed to accommodate the growing number of pilgrims.

Edappally Church holds an important position in the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church and functions as a Forane Church, overseeing several parishes under its jurisdiction.

you’ll find these large, detailed relief artworks that depict important moments from the Bible.
The first panel represents the Last Supper, where Jesus is seen dining with his disciples.

Every figure is carved with careful attention—facial expressions, body posture, folds of clothing, and even the vessels on the table are finely detailed.

The depth of the carving gives it a strong three-dimensional effect, making the scene feel almost lifelike.

The second panel depicts the Baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist in the River Jordan.
Angels, flowing water, clouds, and landscape elements are carved in layered relief, creating a sense of movement and depth.

The main altar of St. George Forane Church is designed in a European Baroque-inspired style, rich in gold detailing and symbolic elements.
At the center is the figure of Risen Jesus Christ, shown ascending with open arms.

The radiating golden rays behind Him symbolize resurrection, divine glory, and victory over death.
This sunburst design is a classic feature in Christian altar architecture, meant to draw the viewer’s attention directly to Christ.

I visited this beautiful church last Christmas, and I was truly mesmerised by its beauty and grandeur.
