In this video, my self and bio-mechanic research engineer Aurelie Sarcher from the Drums Biomech project share the results of a full biomechanical experiment on the ankle technique for drummers, conducted using professional lab-grade sensors and muscle-tracking tools. We examined muscle activation, range of motion, and overall efficiency during different foot techniques to uncover what’s really happening when you use ankle motion on the pedals.
If you’ve ever wondered how much your calves, shins, or hips are REALLY doing, or whether your technique is truly efficient or not, this video will give you the data-backed answers.
