Описание: Long before his 1986 Fleer card became one of the hardest to find in perfect condition, Johnny Moore’s basketball career was up in the air. He was a second-round selection of the Seattle SuperSonics in the 1979 draft, but in an unusual transaction the next day, he was sold to San Antonio because Seattle did not think he had a chance to make its roster. Moore was entrenched in a tight battle to win the last spot on San Antonio’s roster, but he narrowly missed the final cut for coach Doug Moe’s roster. Because that final cut came the day before the season started, Moore was unable to latch onto another NBA team’s roster, and he even missed chances to sign with a team in the minor-league Continental Basketball Association and a team in Alaska. Left with professional basketball abilities but nowhere to showcase them, Moore wandered back to his alma mater, the University of Texas, to keep in shape. Months later, the Spurs fired Moe, and new coach Bob Bass—an assistant who disagreed with cutting Moore in the first place—invited Moore back into the fold. “I don’t worry about things I don’t have jurisdiction over,” Moore said. “I presented myself to the best of my ability, and they didn’t want to give me the job. Maybe this time around they will.” Moore made the team and became a solid contributor for several years. Because his career got a delayed start, he was not included in the 1980 Topps set like many of his draft-mates, so card No. 76 from the 1986 Fleer set is considered Moore’s rookie card. With or without that designation, demand would be extraordinarily high for Moore’s card. Only 67 examples of the card have received a PSA 10 grade, which is the second-lowest total for any card in the 132-card set and represents three-tenths of a percent of the total PSA 10 cards in existence. Many of Moore’s PSA 10s are locked up in complete sets, so any time one becomes available, a flock of collectors battle for the high bid.
