Fresh Tensions Erupt in Manipur as Centre Deploys CoBRA Commandos | Manipur Update

Описание: Fresh security concerns have emerged in Manipur after the Foothills Naga Coordination Committee alleged that three villagers from Konsakhul were ambushed by suspected Kuki militants while repairing a water supply line. One villager was reportedly injured, while two others were briefly separated before returning safely.
The committee has accused the Kuki National Front-Presidential (KNF-P) of involvement and demanded strict action against those responsible. The incident comes amid continuing efforts to restore peace in the violence-hit state.
In response to the evolving security situation, the Union Home Ministry has approved the deployment of two battalions of the CRPF’s elite CoBRA commandos, known for their expertise in jungle warfare and counter-insurgency operations.
Meanwhile, suspected militants allegedly set fire to five kutcha houses in Kangpokpi district, though no casualties were reported. Security forces later brought the situation under control.
Amid these developments, senior IPS officer Mukesh Singh has assumed charge as Manipur’s new Director General of Police, while Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh has called for preserving social harmony and cultural heritage as the state works toward lasting peace and stability.
