Stranded ship in Suez canal mostly refloated

Some progress is made in refloating the massive container ship blocking the Suez Canal.
The Ever Given has been straightened, and is almost ready to be moved to the wider section of the waterway.
Following the news, oil prices dropped as pressure on the global supply chain has been lifted.

The Ever Given was mostly refloated on Monday... after almost a week of effort... but it'll take some time to dislodge it completely.
The head of the Suez Canal Authority, Osama Rabie, confirmed in a phone interview with Egyptian state TV that the ship was pulled from the bank of the canal and straightened,... and is now floating.
Crews have been working day and night to dig it out, and were helped Sunday night by a rising tide.
Rabbie added that once the Ever Given is moved out of the way, it will be taken to the Bitter Lakes,... a wider section of the canal,... and marine traffic in the canal will then resume.
Until then, tug boats will keep working to refloat the ship fully.
The Ever Given became stuck last Tuesday,... and each day since then has blocked an estimated 10 billion dollars in trade.
From bulk carriers to oil tankers,... around 370 ships have been waiting to transit the canal.
Some of them are carrying animals, and will need extra food if they don't start moving in a few days.
The canal authority said earlier that shippers affected by the halt could get discounts on their tolls.
The refloat of the Ever Given led oil prices to fall on Monday on mounting hopes that the canal will reopen soon,... alleviating uncertainties about the global supply chain.
Futures for Brent crude, the global benchmark, fell as much as 2 percent to 63 dollars 28 cents a barrel with West Texas Intermediate futures, the U.S. benchmark, also falling 2 percent to 59-77.
