Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born on the 12th of Rabi’ al-Awwal in the year 571 CE, known as the "Year of the Elephant." This year is called "Aam al-Fil" (the Year of the Elephant) because it was the year when the King of Yemen, Abraha, attempted to destroy the Kaaba. However, Allah destroyed his army through birds called Ababeel.

2. **Family and Lineage**:
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) belonged to the tribe of Quraysh, the most respected tribe in Mecca. He was from the Banu Hashim family, which was a noble and honorable family within Quraysh. His father was Abdullah ibn Abdul-Muttalib, and his mother was Amina bint Wahb.

The lineage of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is as follows:
Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Abdul-Muttalib ibn Hashim ibn Abd Manaf ibn Qusayy ibn Kilab ibn Murrah ibn Ka'b ibn Lu'ayy ibn Ghalib ibn Fihr ibn Malik ibn al-Nadr ibn Kinana.

3. **Conditions at the Time of Birth**:
At the time of the Prophet’s birth, Arabia was steeped in ignorance (Jahiliyyah). Idol worship, oppression, and injustice were rampant. Ethical and moral decay had spread widely, and continuous tribal wars were common. The birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is seen as a beacon of light and guidance in this darkness.

4. **Father’s Death**:
Before the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), his father, Abdullah, passed away. Abdullah had traveled to Syria on a trade journey, and on his return, he fell ill and died in Yathrib (now Madinah).

5. **Upbringing by Mother Amina**:
In his early life, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was nurtured by his mother, Amina. She was a pious and honorable woman who raised him with great love and care.

6. **Foster Care by Halima Sa’diyah**:
It was a tradition among the noble families of Quraysh to send their infants to the countryside to be raised in a pure and healthy environment and to learn the eloquent Arabic language. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was given into the care of Halima Sa’diyah, who raised him as her foster child with love and affection.

7. **Mother’s Death**:
When the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was about six years old, his mother, Amina, took him to visit relatives in Yathrib. On the way back, she fell ill and passed away at a place called Al-Abwa. Thus, the Prophet became an orphan at a very young age.

8. **Care by Grandfather**:
After the death of his mother, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was looked after by his grandfather, Abdul-Muttalib. Abdul-Muttalib, the chief of Quraysh, loved him dearly and took great care of him.

9. **Uncle Abu Talib’s Guardianship**:
When the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was eight years old, his grandfather Abdul-Muttalib also passed away. After his death, the Prophet’s uncle, Abu Talib, took over his guardianship. Abu Talib, the respected chief of Banu Hashim, cared for the Prophet (PBUH) throughout his life, even though he never embraced Islam.

10. **Early Life and Qualities**:
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was known for his truthfulness and trustworthiness from a very young age. He was titled "Al-Sadiq" (The Truthful) and "Al-Amin" (The Trustworthy) by the people of Mecca. He was always honest, just, and known for his high moral character.

11. **Prophethood**:
At the age of 40, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) received his first revelation in the Cave of Hira. Angel Jibril (Gabriel) appeared to him with the message, "Iqra" (Read). This marked the beginning of his prophethood and the revelation of the Quran.

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) preached the message of Islam for 23 years, teaching monotheism, justice, compassion, and humanity. His entire life serves as an example for Muslims, and his teachings continue to guide humanity to this day.
