Tom Clarke-Hill (born in Oroville, California, USA) is an American actor and voice actor, starting his career in 1996. In the Sniper Elite series he voices the protagonist Karl Fairburne.

Second Lieutenant Karl Fairburne is an American elite sniper that served with the British Army as volunteer, before being recruited by the British Special Operations Executive and later by the US O.S.S.; serving in North Africa, Italy, France and Germany.
He is the main protagonist of the Sniper Elite series, as well as the main playable character in all games in the series.
Very little is known about Karl's life prior to his military service. He was the son of an British-American ambassador to Germany before the war broke out, and was raised in Berlin. He studied at the United States Military Academy at West Point, shortly after America's entrance into World War II in December of 1941, where he became a qualified Sniper.
Karl's skill as a sniper was unmatched and he became a great asset to the allies during the Second World War. He was often sent as a solo infiltration commando but could operate with friendly forces on the terrain; those missions often being of the most top secret espionage missions during the Second World War. During the Battle of Berlin, Karl was entrusted with the recruitment and elimination of Nazi scientists.

Lt. Karl Fairburne traveled to France in 1944 to destroy Project Kraken,

Based on all the information available in the game, and comparing that to all the historical data we have, we can confidently confirm that Karl Fairburne is as an OSS operative working in conjunction with the SOE. His large range of proficiencies and skill with a sniper rifle indicates an U.S. sniper origin, while his equipment and close combat training indicates a tiny bit of British influence. Rebellion’s historical concept for the character is spot on, unexpectedly flexible, and surprisingly well developed -- so while there were no real Karl Fairburnes in the history of World War II, there very well might have been
