Field Marshal Montgomery Pipe Band, based in Lisburn, was placed second overall in the Grade One competition at the 2023 European Pipe Band Championships. It also won the European Pipe Band Drumming Championship.
This was a MSR [march, strathspey and reel] competition. Bands chose what tunes to include in their selections - but on this occasion they were limited to compositions not exceeding 4 parts.
March: The Argyllshire Gathering - John MacColl (1860 - 1943)
Strathspey: Bob of Fettercairn - John MacLean (1900 - 1971)
Reel: The Cockerel in the Creel - Donald MacLeod (1916 - 1982)
