A massive fire swept through Isla Puting Bato in Tondo, Manila, on Sunday (24 Nov), displacing around 8,000 people and destroying 1,000 homes.
The blaze lasted for nearly eight hours, leaving 2,000 families homeless.
Drone footage showed flames engulfing the densely packed slum area, with authorities investigating the cause, often linked to faulty wiring or gas canisters.
Manila Mayor Maria Sheilah “Honey” Lacuna-Pangan visited survivors, urging them to move to temporary shelters where aid was being provided.
No casualties have been reported.
