You can only use Zack in this fight to get this reward
Make sure to bring Sigil boost weapon into this fight, it can be Circle, Triangle or X, without it you will have to take an extra Octaclash from Sephiroth. Zack's Buster Sword Origin is one of the good free choice here.
Sephiroth has only 110,000 HP so it's better to focus on damaging him, healing may not be necessary
Other Materias are only for stats
