U.S. federal judge Ann Aiken decided to extend the temporary restraining order allowing the search and rescue helicopter to stay in Newport for 14 more days.
The lawsuit was first filed by the nonprofit organization Newport Fisherman Wives and Lincoln County Against Kristi Noem and the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Coast Guard due to not being notified of the aircraft leaving as well as stating their concerns regarding the safety of people like fisherman on the Pacific Coast.
