천안 아우내 장터에서 유관순 열사와 함께 만세를 외쳤던 신을우 선생.
일본군에 총살당한 할아버지의 죄명은 후손들에게 '가난'이라는 낙인이 되었습니다.
아들은 굶어 죽고, 손자는 머슴살이를 하며 평생을 숨죽여 울어야 했습니다.

예산의 천석꾼 가문이었던 문병석 선생의 집안 역시 풍비박산이 났습니다.
손톱이 뽑히고 귀가 짓눌리는 고문을 당하면서도 지켜낸 나라.
하지만 돌아온 것은 묘비조차 없는 초라한 무덤뿐입니다.

"나라의 역사가 바로 잡히면 너희들도 떳떳해질 거다"라던 할아버지의 유언을 먼지 쌓인 명부 속에서 찾았습니다.

3.1절인 오늘, 화려한 기념식 대신 묘비도 없이 산기슭에 잠든, 잊혀진 두 분의 이름을 다시 기록합니다.
