www.foxvalleyrep.org -- Based on Neil Simon’s memoirs of growing up in Brooklyn, Brighton Beach Memoirs is a coming-of-age comedy that recounts life in 1937 through the eyes of a young teenage boy. Eugene Jerome, dreaming of baseball and girls, must cope with the mundane existence of his cramped, Jewish-American family life: an over-worked father, under-appreciated mother, and his worldly older brother Stanley. Throw into the mix his asthmatic Aunt Blanche and her two pampered daughters and you have a recipe for true hilarity. This bittersweet memoir is an affectionate, entertaining lesson in overcoming hard times with warmth and humor. Actor Ryan Stajmiger speaks to the audience as witty Eugene Jerome. Directed by Ronan Marra.
