If your tongue is no longer resting in the proper position, your teeth may move and deformation may occur. This also promotes an incorrect swallowing function. Since the only way to breathe is through the mouth, your mouth will be open more and this heightens your chances for dental carries and an incorrect position of the jaw. The body may also try to open the airway by moving the head forward. This will cause forward head posture and strain the neck.
