The Catholic branch church St. Georg is located on the highest point of the Auerberg in the district of Weilheim-Schongau in Upper Bavaria. The simple sacral building contains some important pieces of equipment, such as a Mother of God of the Allgäu carver Jörg Lederer.
The oldest part of the church is the Romanesque saddle roof tower in the northern choir angle, over which one arrives today to the observation platform on the church roof. From here you can see 300 villages.
The Auerberg, also called Swabian Rigi, is a 1055 m above sea level. NHN high mountain belonging to the Bavarian Alpine foothills Allgäu.
