Valentine’s Week Day 7 — when love is no longer romantic, but resurrected.

“Did our hearts not burn within us…while He talked with us on the way?”

On the seventh day of Valentine’s Week, love is no longer about roses or promises whispered in the dark.

It is about recognition.

Did Our Hearts Not Burn tells the story of the road to Emmaus — when two disciples walked beside the risen Christ and did not know Him (Gospel of Luke 24:13–35).

Grief walked with them.
Confusion walked with them.
And so did Love Himself.

Set in a restrained Flamenco Oud style, the piece moves like footsteps along a dusty road — rhythmic, searching, sometimes circling back on itself. The oud carries the ache of loss; the flamenco phrasing answers with rising conviction.

The verses trace the disciples’ sorrow:
“How our hope was nailed in darkness…” (Luke 24:21)

The pre-chorus recalls the moment He opened the Scriptures to them — beginning with Moses and all the Prophets (Luke 24:27). The fire was already there.

And then — the table.
The blessing.
The breaking of bread.

“He was known to them in the breaking of the bread.” (Luke 24:30–31)

The final chorus echoes their confession:

“Did not our hearts burn within us while He talked with us on the road?” (Luke 24:32)
