"The collection is Spring collection, and is true to spring. Beautiful colours, taupes, brown, beige, a little story on pink a little story on green and a big story on gold. Gold is a big thing for me. I watched a movie, 'Closer' with Natalie Portman and I like her rebel attitude. The little short wig with little boots and all spiky and kind of punk. Sort of a new wave look..."

"I don't set-up boundaries of how people should eat. And I really don't believe that my clothes are streamline. A woman would lose weight just to wear them. So I feel that's a completely different show like for Oprah Winfrey (laughs)."

LOUIS VERDAD CLOSES FIRST DAY OF LA FASHION WEEK
Louis Verdad put a close to the first day of L.A. Fashion week Sunday night.
For the Spring 2007 collection Verdad decided to accentuate volume with oversize dolmas, modern kimonos and bubble shorts.
He also brought in easy silhouettes with jumpers and rompers. However Verdad was quick to point out that the waist was still the strong focal point.
"The collection is Spring collection, and is true to spring. Beautiful colours, taupes, brown, beige, a little story on pink a little story on green and a big story on gold," Verdad explained. "Gold is a big thing for me. I watched a movie, 'Closer' with Natalie Portman and I like her rebel attitude. The little short wig with little boots and all spiky and kind of punk. Sort of a new wave look..."
Born in Chicago and raised in Leon Guanajuato, Mexico, Verdad's collections are forever inspired by the fashionable, society women of his homeland.
Responding to the recent storm of criticism over skinny models, Verdad said he realises women come in all shapes and forms.
"I don't set-up boundaries of how people should eat," noted Verdad. "And I really don't believe that my clothes are streamline. A woman would lose weight just to wear them. So I feel that's a completely different show like for Oprah Winfrey (laughs)."
