We've been waiting a while now for GM's full-size SUVs to hit the Canadian market. This week we're spending some time with the middle child of the lineup, the 2021 GMC Yukon Denali 4WD. Our in-depth and comprehensive tour of this SUV goes over the new features and design elements for this generation Yukon, along with the technical changes over the preceding generation. We discuss the improvements GM made along with the new air suspension, 6.2L V8 engine, 10-speed automatic transmission, and redesigned look with larger exterior and interior dimensions.

As we haven't driven the GMC Yukon before we want to make sure we cover everything about this SUV, including a comprehensive interior walkaround of the unique Denali interior layout. We talk about how the 2021 GMC Yukon Denali's 10.2" infotainment system compares to the standard trims, including wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM Radio, and a 14 speaker Bose Audio system. The GMC Yukon also has a 15" customizable colour Head Up Display, along with 2 rear seat entertainment units which allow passengers to stream music or movies via USB or HDMI, along with the ability to view the navigation map. Interior lighting is LED, along with a panoramic sunroof, full leather dashboard, easy entry/exit for the driver, and power third row seats which can be opened or closed from either the trunk or the front roof console.

We sit in the second and third rows of this SUV to see how the interior space ultimately is for adults, and how you might find the overall cargo and storage capacity with this vehicle. We demonstrate how these seats can fold flat and the ease of entry and exit from either row.

We then take the 2021 GMC Yukon Denali 4WD on a comprehensive winter road test to see how the 4WD system works along with the Bridgestone Blizzak winter tires. We have a light dusting of snow during our review to give you a better idea of how this vehicle performs in the snow, and how it compares to the GMC Sierra 1500 we drove a few years ago. We report on our real world fuel economy testing results, and give some thoughts on how we think this vehicle will stack up against the competition and from the Cadillac Escalade.
