Описание: Victory in the Great Patriotic War would have been impossible without the military valor shown by Soviet women at the battlefront. More than 600 thousand women volunteered to the Red army. In this respect the Soviet Union was a unique country. They mastered such difficult and dangerous professions as artilleryman, machine gunner, sniper or pilot. Today I want to tell you about the heroism of those women who worked on the home front and those who met the enemy face to face. And also about why many women had to face disapproval and contempt after the WW2.

In the Soviet Union, women were considered active builders of communism. Therefore, since 1939, they could serve in the army on an equal footing with men, with weapons in hand, in all units and formations. Since June 22, 1941, hundreds of thousands of Soviet girls went to the recruiting stations, demanding to send them to the front. In all, up to a million Soviet women were on the battlefields during the war. And many millions worked on the home front, replacing men in all jobs, including the hardest ones. They piloted trains, felled timber, mined coal, and through their activities helped to bring the Soviet people's victory over the enemy closer. Women worked not only in factories and hospitals, but also accomplished many feats on the battlefield. Many stories are widely known, such as those of Soviet snipers like Rosa Shanina or Lyudmila Pavlichenko. You probably know the story of the "Night Witches" - the three female air-force units who terrified the Nazis. But today I would not like to single out anyone, today I would like to mention them all, and those who provided food for the soldiers in the home front, those who pulled the wounded soldiers from the battlefield and those who rushed to this battlefield on their tanks. Each of them contributed their share to this victory, and each of them should be remembered with gratitude.
