In this video, I talk honestly about something that doesn’t get discussed enough in the reefing hobby: boredom. For me, having ADHD has made this even more obvious. Once the tank settles down and everything is just ticking along, it becomes maintenance rather than excitement, and that’s where things can start to slip.

I’ve lost tanks in the past because of this.

So in this video, I talk about how I’ve started putting systems in place to protect the tank from me. One of those is the Auto Aqua Smart AWC Duo G2, which now handles my automatic water changes and top ups. It means the basics are always taken care of, even on the days when motivation isn’t there.

This isn’t just an ADHD thing either. A lot of people enter the hobby expecting an instant Instagram reef, when the reality is that the best tanks take years to mature.
